Star Ratings

When the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2023 Star Ratings in October, 25% of Medicare Advantage (MA) plans are left with rating decreases and performance challenges to solve for. All other MA plans are also facing consequential end-of-year and long-term strategic decisions to meet evolving regulations.

“There are just days left in 2022 to impact clinical care delivery for the contracts whose 2025 growth and expansion plans are now at risk due to Stars performance,” says Melissa Smith, Executive Vice President, Consulting & Professional Services at Healthmine. “The clock is ticking and there are no days to waste. More engagement directly with members should begin immediately and continue through the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveying season to preserve long-term strategic growth.”

The industry is at a critical juncture. CMS is steering plans towards new measures and program needs which hinge heavily on the voice of the patient. CMS has instructed plans to design a clear strategic and tactical roadmap which embraces the digital age using technology and innovation as the anchors to embed quality into the patient’s care journey.

Identify your path to 4+ Stars, starting with quick actions to take during the valuable time left to impact the 2024 Star Ratings. Healthmine’s Expert Advisory Services team includes consultants that have been working in Star Ratings since its inception, and they’re guiding Medicare Advantage plans short- and long-term strategies for sustainable Stars success.
