HealthMine’s EVP of Consulting, Melissa Smith, recently led a panel discussion at Strategic Solutions Network’s Whole Person Care Summit about breaking down data silos in the healthcare industry. The panel consisted of participants from a variety of healthcare and community organizations and offered diverse views on how data can help drive a holistic approach to care.

Panelists addressed how the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent quarantine have greatly impacted their respective fields, while simultaneously redefining the patient journey and whole-person care. In addition to clinical concerns regarding the virus as well as existing conditions, payers and providers must now consider how to support individuals’ job loss, economic hardship, and other needs that result from social isolation.

One silver lining of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the acceleration of technology adoption in the healthcare industry. Many panelists expressed that social distancing actually increased connectivity for their members; People began using phone calls, text, and video chat to access care remotely more frequently, which will likely become the new normal even post-pandemic.

In addition to increasing access to care, advancements in technology have allowed practitioners to integrate patient data and connect the dots across the care continuum. As a result, the care teams are able to identify unmet needs and more accurately measure health outcomes and engagement.

This is an important conversation that you don’t want to miss. If you weren’t able to watch the panel live, we have you covered! Access the full recording below to learn how industry leaders are using data to maximize the benefits of partnerships and increase the quality of care.
